What Is Aidvantage?
Aidvantage is a federal student loan servicer operated by Maximus. In December 2021, Navient transferred its entire federal loan portfolio — about 5.6 million borrowers — to Aidvantage. If your loans were previously with Navient, they are now with Aidvantage.
Aidvantage services Direct Loans and Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program loans that have been consolidated into Direct Loans.

What 2026 Policy Changes Mean for Aidvantage Borrowers
If you are enrolled in the SAVE Plan: Your payments are currently paused due to a federal court injunction. You are in administrative forbearance. These paused months do not count toward IDR forgiveness or PSLF. Log in to aidvantage.com to confirm your current plan status.
If you want to switch from SAVE: You can request enrollment in IBR (Income-Based Repayment) through your Aidvantage account or at studentaid.gov. IBR remains fully operational and new enrollment is open.
If you are pursuing PSLF: PSLF processing is handled by MOHELA, not Aidvantage. You will need to submit an Employer Certification Form through studentaid.gov. Contact MOHELA directly for payment count questions.
FFEL borrowers: If your loans are FFEL (not Direct Loans), they do not qualify for SAVE, PAYE, or PSLF. You may need to consolidate into a Direct Consolidation Loan first — which resets your forgiveness clock.
Key Actions for Aidvantage Borrowers
- Log in to aidvantage.com and verify your current repayment plan.
- If on SAVE: Decide whether to switch to IBR now or wait for the injunction to resolve. Payments during the SAVE forbearance do not count toward forgiveness.
- If pursuing PSLF: Submit your Employer Certification Form annually and after any job change. Check your qualifying payment count at studentaid.gov.
- If your loans are FFEL: Consider a Direct Consolidation Loan, but understand that consolidation resets any forgiveness progress.
Common Aidvantage Problems and Solutions
"My payment amount doesn't seem right." Your IDR payment recalculates annually based on your most recent tax return. If your income changed significantly, you can request an early recertification through Aidvantage.
"I can't log in to Aidvantage." Aidvantage inherited Navient's accounts. If you haven't set up your Aidvantage account yet, visit aidvantage.com and use your SSN to create a new login — your loan data should be pre-populated.
"I got a notice about transferring to a new servicer." The Department of Education has been moving loans between servicers. Always update your contact information at studentaid.gov so you receive transfer notices.
